Fantasy & Fan Art
I began my painting career as a teenager, copying the art of Derek Riggs who illustrated the album covers for the band Iron Maiden in the 80s. I would recreate the album covers on fellow student's school binders, jean jackets, or just draw on paper for them to hang in their lockers. I also painted murals on my bedroom wall. My first acrylic painting was a reproduction of the album "Killers" which I sold for $50 (a lot of money for a kid). I then started designing original album covers for the heavy metal band Snakebite, which had a strong influence from the Savage Sword of Conan art of Frank Frazetta. I have also produced a few stand alone "fantasy" art paintings like "The Players," "The Maiden and the Dragon," and "Romeo and Juliet." I continue this Fan Art tradition today, painting scenes from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, using stills from the movie for references.
